Meet Robert Mayer. Mr. Mayer is the Massachusetts Chair of the Government Relations Committee of the IAC for Action and is currently organizing in support of the Massachusetts anti-BDS bill. Here is his take on BDS and why it has no place in the Bay State:

The people of Massachusetts have always been leaders in the fight for freedom and human rights — the values that sit at the foundation of our country’s greatness. Today those same values are under attack, driven by an increasingly toxic political discourse in which individuals — and entire communities — are singled out and discriminated against simply because of who they are, where they come from, or what they believe.

Background: The Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement is used by opponents of Israel to drive a wedge between Israel’s government, businesses, universities and people from its allies around the world through the boycotting of Israeli goods, cultural institutions, universities, and divesting from Israeli companies and endowments. It has been used as a weapon to wage economic warfare against Israel and to delegitimize the country. In recent years, there have been emerging efforts in state and local governments to enact measures to divest from entities that participate in the anti-Israel BDS movement.
